Emerge is a university project that dictates choosing a verb and animating the verb using the action its meaning expresses. The idea was to deconstruct the word into separate same-sized rectangles and have them ‘emerge’.
The first step was to create the word itself out of rectangles on Adobe Illustrator. Once this step was done, the file was imported into AfterEffects where the animation took place. The main challenge of this project was to choose a specific mathematical sequence for the emergence of the rectangles, as it was not randomized.
Below are the different tested keyframe sequences. The sequence might not be entirely visible in the animation itself, however the keyframe bar displayed unexpected formations as a result of the sequences. All keyframes were set manually.
